So you may have been wondering how we've been doing. Well I gotta say it's been nuts, that's how it's been.
LEL and the kids are having an interesting since I've been in language class. We're in Crystal City which has become much more walkable and interesting since I left here in 2000. Much more stuff and a great playground for the kids right next to the library, which is a godsend. Still, CLM has definitely been crazy, and LLG is still a little unsettled by the sirens tht go by. (We're staying near a fire station so that's all the time.)
I, on the other hand, am just trying to get myself back into the swing of things in regards to Spanish. I'm doing quite well, but still won't be able to take the test when I want to do so. I think I could pass it, but they aren't so sure. So I try to Improve every day. Who knows, maybe this week they'll come back and say they're ready for me, and I can get out of here sooner. As it stands, LEL and the kids will be going before me to BA, which isn't optimal. If you're into praying, please keep us in them. I can use any help I get.
I am a Foreign Service Officer working for the Department of State. My Anglo-American Wife (Lovely English Lass in my posts) puts up with me, for which I appreciate her even more. My daughter (Lovely Little Girl) is on the Autism Spectrum and is taller than your average child. My son (Crazy Little Man) has some developmental delays and is, as his name suggests, crazy. My posts are not a reflection of, nor should be construed, as official positions of the US Department of State.

An ending and a new beginning
I'm sitting in the badge office at Main State right now. I had a free morning so I thought I'd write quickly about the last week.
Our last week in South Africa went very quickly. CLM had a going away party on Memorial Day and LLG had two different going away parties. Her teacher said she had changed her life. It was pretty cool to be sure.
My staff had a going away party for me and gave me a SA rugby jersey with my name on it, which was very touching. On Friday we had a going away party for everyone leaving post, so it was nice to see everyone one last time. The next day we had quite a huge task of getting packed and then taking the longest commercial flight in the world.
After the flight, we received a compliment on how well behaved our children were during the flight. That made us very proud. The flight to dc was uneventful.
Monday I started class and LEL and the kids are exploring Crystal City where we're staying. It's been crazy and jet lag is still hurting all of us. Still, it'll be an eventful month and we'll see what happens next.
